Barry Parr
Barry Parr is a media analyst covering News and Information at Jupiter Research. He is a frequent speaker on Web publishing and Internet strategy in the US and worldwide and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, Business Week, San Jose Mercury News, and other publications. Mr. Parr has more than fifteen years of experience building online services, including software development, marketing, editorial, and production management.
Barry has served as Ecommerce Research Director at International Data Corporation and Vice President of News at CNET.
At IDC, his research included consumer ecommerce, portals, Internet user demographics, international ecommerce, and Internet marketing.
As Vice President of News at CNET, he co-created NEWS.COM, a technology news site which Walt Mossberg in the Wall Street Journal called "a must read for anyone who cares about technology news". In addition, Mr. Parr was managing producer at the San Jose Mercury News, where he was a key developer of Mercury Center, the first newspaper on the Web.
Mr. Parr has an AB in Psychology from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
